Celebrating Chinese New Year with guest bloggers Korla Home

The Korla team are getting excited about Chinese New Year, and it’s just round the corner. Apart from the 4 days off work, there are so many other benefits…

Red undies…

It’s your only chance to wear red underwear without people raising an eyebrow! Its deemed good luck to wear them, so get yourself down to Takashimaya and get shopping!

 No cleaning…

On the first day of Chinese New Year you are not meant to clean as it’s believed you can sweep out the good luck that arrived with the holiday. Time for mums to put their feet up and take the day off!

Chinatown Celebrations…

Chinatown is where its at for the next two weeks. There are many seasonal market stalls with foods and holiday decorations. For a programme of events check out China Town to join in the celebrations. And don’t miss the fireworks.

Decorate your home…

Apart from the Duilian (chinese cuplets) decorating your door check out Korla’s range of fabrics with the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Hand-printed on natural and off-white cotton-linens, these fabrics are perfect for curtains, blinds or soft furnishings around the home. All the prints are available from Korla’s online retail store at Korla home

Wishing you all the best in the Year of the Snake!

Happy New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Wednesday 23 January 2013

So the Ribbon and Roses team are a bit behind schedule with our blogs…. but a very Happy New Year! Going with better late than never....
This week we have been on the hunt for some rugs to  “spruce up” our office and for me around the house. Still seem to not have got round to buying any since moving in  1.5yrs ago... on the to do list.

Doing a bit of research online I came across a great company called Custom cool rugs. I love pretty much 90% of all their pieces which are all so pretty.

All their designs can be easily customized for your specifications. They have hundreds of different coloured wools and silks to choose from and all designs can be altered fit your particular size requirements. Sounds brilliant.... Many designs can be made as both hand woven rugs and kilims.

Here are a few of my top picks, just wonder if my bank balance will love them as much as I feel I need them.....

Have a good rest of the week

Lots of love
