High five to the Honeycombers...

We are loving the Honeycombers shout out about our Ribbon and Roses parties, thanks guys!...

All ready to go at a Ribbon and Roses Evening!
Imagine this: bubbly, 10 of your best girl friends at a girls' night in, the usual cheeky catching up, and shopping. Oh, and did we mention - a $150 shopping voucher for you to spend.

Think this sounds like a great idea? We thought so too.

Online shopping site Ribbon and Roses is not only expanding offline (they've already got some rad stockists), they're now coming straight to your doorstep. Plus - everything is beyond easy to organize.

What you do:
Round up the troops! Pick a date, time, and venue and tell the Ribbon and Roses team the deets. Whether you want to host a coffee morning or a cocktail night, they'll be there and ready to roll.

What they do:
They send out at e-invite to you, which you then send to your friends. That way everyone gets to see what R&R have on offer and can also request certain pieces. On the day of your party, then turn up with a rail of clothes, jewellery and accessories to set up an hour before your event starts.

What everyone gets:
Helloo, shopping and schmoozing with the girls? That can't be beat! Throw in a wardrobe update, jewellery on tap, and great new bags to tote your new wares in and we guarantee everyone will be a happy camper. Hosts also get a $150 to spend on the day itself for a little extra bonus.

Another successful Ribbon and Roses Evening
Happy shoppers!
For more information, contact the Ribbon and Roses team at info@ribbonandroses.com or give them a buzz at 8128 8176 8128 8176. Go forth and be stylish, girls!

Changmoh for Ribbon & Roses: My Favourite Things in Sing

I live in, and love, Singapore and spend a large amount of my time trying to be as local as I possibly can. When in Rome...

I have a few favorite finds and R&R has asked me to share my top 5:

Dim Sum has become an addiction and I get my weekly fix at Crystal Jade Golden Palace in Paragon where, aside from all the usual faves, they also now serve delectable dim sum for children which is really very sweet.  Bring your own child sized chopsticks and be amazed at what they can do.  Crystal Jade Golden Palace, Paragon #5, T:  (+65) 67346866  (+65) 67346866

Yue Hwa (I’m no whizz at pronunciation but ‘you whaaaa’ seems to work ok – as in ‘you what?’ but missing off the ‘t’) in Chinatown is a great one-stop shop for people staying with you who are looking for well-priced presents to take home.  You have to be able to hunt out the good stuff though so don't send anyone here who is super high end as they won't be able to cope (send them to Shanghai Tangs in Taka instead).  My favorite place to buy reasonably priced, heavy, pure silk dressing gowns in rich emerald silk, embroidered with butterflies and lined in shocking pink. They also have a good jewellery department too on the top floor.  Yue Hwa, 70 Eu Tong Street, Singapore 059805, T:  (+65) 6538 4222  (+65) 6538 4222www.yuehwa.com.sg Opening Times: 11am-9pm Mon-Fri & Sun, 11am-10pm Sat

Joanne Chiam really is the Eve Lom of Singapore and her number is gold dust. Go to her for a facial just once and you’ll never go anywhere else. She is still a relatively well-kept secret and a lot of her clients are beautifully groomed tai tais who visit her monthly, as a minimum. At $150 for up to 2 hours (depending on how bad your skin is; 1.5 hours if it's ok) not only is she miles cheaper than Eve Lom but also very, very good at what she does. (I secretly wanted to list Joanne first, as my top can’t-live-without but thought it looked a bit vain, so I’ve dropped her down to 3rd place but truth be told, I’d happily forfeit dim sum to go to her if I had to choose!) It’s only her, so SMS for an appointment rather than call. Joanne, 57 Cairnhill Road, #01-01 Elizabeth Heights, S229668, T:  (+65) 9734 8075  (+65) 9734 8075 ; by appointment only

Number 4 is the Jade Market in Hong Kong, which I know is not quite Singapore, but it’s near enough.  Found on Kansu and Battery street, it’s a great place to stock up on presents, including huge Chinese jade pendants which you can pick up for around HKD$60 (£5).

Chinese puddings are generally much maligned but I defy anyone not to love an egg tart from Tong Heng. Almost identical to a French custard tart in terms of taste (not too sweet) and pastry (deliciously light and crumbly), I was introduced to this Chinatown institution by my surrogate Singaporean mummy, T.  Their euro tartiness is explained by the fact that they a hangover from the days when Portugal was in charge here. Priced at little more than $1 a tart, double park and buy a box of at least six to make the trip worth it.  Baked daily. Tong Heng, 285 South Bridge Road, Singapore 058833, T:  (+65) 6223 3649  (+65) 6223 3649 /  6223 0398  6223 0398 ; Opening Times: 9am-10pm daily

Tinker Bell and Ribbon and Roses

Ribbon and Roses teamed up with new children’s brand Tinker Bell, launched by Clare Jelf last week for an in-house sale at a beautiful black and white off Mount Pleasant road. Thank you to lots of you for popping in.

With a pretty array of girls dresses, rompers and hair clips through to macho pyjamas and sleeveless jumpers for anyone escaping the Singapore heat, it’s not surprising they were flying off the rail’s.

Here’s a little preview of what Clare has on offer, the prefect party dress or gift for your God children. If you can’t wait for her website to launch or her next sale contact: tinkerbellkids@hotmail.com for a sneak preview!

Ipad covers

SO we are finally back refreshed from our holidays and Ribbon and Roses is back in action!

Lucky Me! My lovely fiancé spoilt me with an Ipad while we were away. It seems that everyone has one these days, on the bus, in a restaurant or at home. So it was time that I joined the following with the new ipad 3. After I had figured out how to use the blessed thing, I went searching for the best ipad covers…

This is the one that everyone has. It’s not quite so smart as doesn’t protect the rest of the ipad, but love the turning off feature and also turns into a stand. Key for watching films waiting at airports or boring bus journeys.

Much more stylish than the smart cover, and covers the whole ipad, but sadly at £295 it’s a bit out of my price range!

This pretty ipad cover fits an ipad 2 and ipad 3, comes in pink, green and blue and can fit your smart cover in as well. So your ipad will look chic, is protected and still looking smart… At $45  it’s a steal!

Girls + Wine + Shopping = A winner evening!

It has been a while since I had had girl’s drinks in my flat, so when I heard that I could get a Ribbon and Roses voucher to spend on myself by hosting a Ribbon and Roses shopping evening, I jumped at the chance.

So after emailing about 15 of my friends a date was booked . R and R created an Evite and everyone had it penciled in their diaries. As usual nearer the time I had a couple of drop outs, but word had got out and there were plenty of people to take their place. Lets face it, who doesnt like a wine and shopping combo.

Goodies from www.ribbonandroses.com

After having the stock delivered and R&R displaying it beautifully, all the guests had to do was arrive armed with cheque books and cash... A few canapés later and a lot of wine (I would suggest adding to your invitation “bring a bottle” if their anything like my friends!) a 1am finisher everyone left with arms full of goodies and very successful night catching up!

Clothes, jewellery and accessories from Ribbon and Roses

Brighten up these dreary days

I wouldn’t be a true Brit if I didn’t mention the weather and after three weeks of solid rain in the UK it just seems impossible to talk about anything else!  This time last year I was basking in the sizzling heat of Singapore and with so many of the team at SheerLuxe HQ jetting off to sunnier climes I’ve got the biggest urge to hop on a plane and escape it all.

Until that moment finally arrives (6 weeks on Monday!) and to brighten up these dreary days, I’ve been making my own wish list of key pieces for when the sun finally does decide to shine:

From J Brand
J Brand Neon Jeans – whatever colour you choose, a pair of neon jeans is an essential key piece if you want to look on trend over the coming months.

From Dune
Kat Maconie for Dune – we’re all a bit over excited at SL for the launch of this collaboration.  A good sandal seems hard to find this summer so I’m pretty excited about getting my hands on this pair.

From Iro
Iro Dylan Jacket – yes it comes with a pretty hefty price tag but I LOVE this brand!  And I love this jacket even more now I’ve just seen Gwyneth Paltrow – my secret girl crush – pictured wearing it with white jeans and flats. Simple but very effective.

From Ray Ban
Ray Ban Cat Eyes – this shape is definitely here to stay for another season.  I played it safe last year and opted for their classic wayfarers but this year I’m getting involved.

From Eugenia Kim

Eugenia Kim Trilby – As much as I love the sun my skin just doesn’t.  This summer I’m taking the sensible approach with a hat to keep the rays off and this is by far my favourite I’ve seen so far.

From Ribbon and Roses

Miss Pink Lady Scarf – another colour pop for the summer.  This would look great with a simple white tee and denim cut offs.

Happy shopping!

9-5

As Dolly Parton’s pelting out "working 9-5" downstairs (yes total closet Dolly fan… or not even closet really) I get endless emails from working girls… not the pretty woman, stand on a street corner in suspenders type, but asking me to suggest which Ribbon and Roses pieces would work for them and pass as office wear.

There is nothing more boring than a pair of Joseph black trousers teamed with a safe Thomas pink or TM Lewin for women shirt so here’s a quick guide which I hope will be acceptable for your office’s…and most importantly items which take you through to the well deserved glass of wine at the end of the day.
Silk ruffle dress
Navy patent ballet pumps
Blue linen Jacket
Blue lace blouse
Blue leaf silk skirt
Cream button back blouse

Please email marina@ribbonandroses.com for any help on sizing, delivery times etc
Some of the items above are in the sale so happy shopping!

Lots of love
